THE OPPORTUNITY
RAM Iron & Metal is looking for a talented and driven General Labourer / Equipment Operator to join our Team. The General Labourer / Equipment Operator, under the direction of the Supervisor, Non Ferrous will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, grading, sorting, and processing of non-ferrous materials.

OVERVIEW
The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The General Labourer / Equipment Operator is expected to have the ability to learn and assist in several aspects of our daily operations such as scrap inspections, sorting, and processing of materials, operating mobile equipment, and generally is in daily communications with drivers, colleagues, and contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES
- Provide exceptional customer service to customers and contractors.
- Operate forklift and provide dedicated containers to customer to offload materials.
- Verify incoming materials to ensure they meet conformity requirements.
- Operate computer and input weights and grades of materials into system.
- Perform sorting and processing tasks for non-ferrous scrap metals.
- Conduct commodity-specific breakdowns during the processing phase.
- Segregate any non-conforming materials into designated containers or areas.
- Manage vehicle traffic flow within the yard to ensure the safe movement of personnel and vehicles.
- Maintain clear roadways and uphold yard housekeeping to meet required standards.
- Operate equipment such as forklift or skid-steer under the direction of the supervisor.
- Other duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listing above.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of metal materials is an asset.
- Experience with a forklift (valid forklift certification on Counterbalance).
- Experience with skid-steer is an asset.
- Previous experience and willingness to working outdoors.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The working environment is busy and fast paced, with regular and ongoing interactions with colleagues, management, and the public at large. There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy. The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing for extended periods, walking, and using their arms and hands. Occasional tasks may involve climbing fixed ladders on trucks and bins, climbing ladders or stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items. While performing job duties that involve lifting, the employee should be capable of lifting weights up to 50lbs.
