Process Improvement/Digitization Intern Scarborough, ON | Full Time Contract I 6 Months
About Us
The Process Improvement/Digitization Intern will work closely with the Planning and Scheduling team to analyze current planning processes, identify inefficiencies, and assist in the implementation of digital tools and technologies to enhance production planning, scheduling accuracy, and overall operational efficiency.
The role will focus on process optimization, data analysis, and supporting the adoption of digital solutions to streamline scheduling and planning functions within our manufacturing environment. This will be an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in operations management if you have the willingness to learn and grow with Trench.
Your Tasks:
- Assist in analyzing current planning and scheduling workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Support the application of process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to refine planning and scheduling processes.
- Collaborate with planning and operations teams to understand key challenges and develop actionable solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Aid in the implementation of digital tools and software solutions (e.g. Advanced Planning Systems, scheduling software) to enhance planning and scheduling capabilities.
- Support the integration of automation technologies that can help reduce manual data entry and improve the accuracy of production schedules.
- Partner in designing and optimizing digital workflows that streamline scheduling processes.
- Assist in ensuring production schedule is created, maintained, and distributed to optimize production to meet delivery schedules, production efficiency and on-time delivery.
- Assist in providing strategic input to maintain capacity vs load forecast and prioritize orders to meet market demand.
- Problem-Solving approach towards planning and scheduling challenges.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of process improvement and digital transformation within the manufacturing sector.
- Strong analytical skills using MS. Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Data Analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau) or Basic Programming (eg: SQL, Python).
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Project) is an asset but not a requirement.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and apply new technologies to enhance business operations.
- Ability to work independently while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
