Summary
We are seeking a Bookkeeping Assistant to help maintain accurate financial records and assist with various accounting tasks. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are looking to expand their bookkeeping knowledge and experience. You will support the accounting team by managing financial records, handling transactions, and assisting in preparing financial reports.
Work Term: Part time, 7-14 hours/week, Permanent.
Work Arrangements: On-site, 5400 Minoru Blvd. Richmond, BC.
Responsibilities
- Transaction Entry & Data Entry: Record financial transactions such as accounts payable and receivable into accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Excel) to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Bank Reconciliation: Assist with monthly bank reconciliation, ensuring that company records match bank statements and identifying discrepancies when they occur.
- Maintain Financial Records: Organize and maintain financial documents, including receipts, invoices, and other accounting records, in a manner that ensures easy access and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with Accounts Payable/Receivable: Help with processing invoices, issuing payments, and collecting outstanding receivables. Ensure all accounts are up-to-date and accurate.
- Prepare Reports: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, profit and loss reports, and other key financial documents for management and internal reporting.
- Payroll Support: Assist with payroll preparation, ensuring employees are paid on time and that tax deductions are accurate.
- Filing & Documentation: Maintain a well-organized filing system for both digital and paper records of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with company policy and relevant regulations.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Diploma and/or Degree in Accounting from a Canadian recognized post-secondary school.
- Interested in pursuing their CPA designation, or currently holds a CPA designation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.) and basic accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Strong understanding of budgeting principles and practices.
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and organization in handling financial data.
- Ability to perform account analysis effectively to support financial decision-making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and clients as needed.
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or related fields.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage time effectively.
