Our Sports Shop Assistants provide positive service and sales to all prospective customers in a friendly and timely manner in a clean and organized environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure shop opening and closing procedures are followed (shift dependent)
- Receive, securely shop and mechanize product following established procedures
- Demonstrate strong product knowledge and attends product knowledge seminars (both facility and vendor provided)
- Actively engage customer by
- greeting them upon their entry to the shop
- maintaining a presence on the retail floor
- promoting Sports Shop products and services
- Execute initiatives in effective and accurate use of ORION POS system and cash handling procedures
- Develop and maintain strong skate sharpening skills and certification
- Report to Sports Shop Supervisor all relative customer questions, suggestions or complaints
- Monitor stock and ensure the shop and all inventory is kept clean
- Replenish and maintain shop products on the floor as needed
- Adhere to all Risk Management policies and procedures
- Report any unsafe Health & Safety conditions
- Is "WHMIS" and "Workplace Violence" trained
- Is aware and understands implementation of the Facility Emergency Plan, Incident Reports and knows the location and how to use the First Aid Kit, Eye Wash Station and Defibrillator
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
- Ensure consideration for best practices in energy use management and environmental impact are employed
Qualifications And Education
- Completed high school education or equivalent is an asset
Abilities, Attributes And Experience
- At least one year retail and / or customer service experience
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (evenings & weekends)
- Strong hockey and/or skating knowledge
- Strong skate sharpening skills
- Cash handling experience through a POS system (preferred)
- Demonstrated computer skills, notably in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Neat appearance with a professional and positive attitude
- Great communication skills
- Thorough, organized, articulate and punctual
