PROFILE SUMMARY
Wesgroup is poised for substantial growth over the next several years and in preparation for this exciting and challenging phase, we are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Director, Corporate Accounting to join our team.
This role will provide leadership to our corporate accounting, treasury, and payroll & benefits teams (“Corporate Accounting” teams). You will report to the CFO/COO on an interim basis until the vacant VP, Accounting role is filled, and will oversee our corporate accounting functions, implement key processes, enhance corporate reporting, and promote collaboration within the accounting team and across departments.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership and Team Development
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and actively mentor team members for development.
- Set clear goals and expectations for the Corporate Accounting team managers, regularly monitor progress, provide constructive feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
- Provide guidance and review to the Corporate Accounting teams, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
Financial Reporting and Operations
- Participate in preparation and monitoring of corporate overhead budgets.
- Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and processes related to Corporate Accounting. Oversee the implementation of process improvements and comprehensive process documentation as necessary.
- Identify system enhancement opportunities, evaluate solutions for new or changing operational requirements, lead the implementation of new system solutions.
- Participate in and enhance all levels of internal and external reporting.
- Participate in and seek opportunities to enhance a complex treasury function.
Compliance and Tax Strategy
- Ensure operations are in alignment with tax strategies and oversee tax compliance as necessary.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Foster collaboration and facilitate cross-functional cooperation with all accounting and finance teams, the tax department, and operational departments.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of relationships with current and prospective lenders, auditors, and other external and internal stakeholders.
Strategic Planning and Initiatives
- Support the VP, Accounting and provide advice and guidance on accounting and operational matters.
- Participate in the planning and management of major initiatives, including corresponding change management.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- CPA designation
- 7-10 years of experience in a similar leadership role overseeing financial reporting, treasury and tax functions in a multi-entity business with complex-corporate structures.
- Exceptional leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams with the ability to manage and develop talent, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Real estate industry experience is an asset.
- Experience with OneStream, Yardi Voyager 7S, or other similar software, and with system management and implementations is an asset.
- Deep understanding of and experience with large entity financial consolidations.
- Experience / familiarity with reporting for a Family Office
- Strong understanding of both ASPE and IFRS reporting standards.
- Strong understanding and ability to support the corporate treasury function
- Ability to make well-informed and strategic decisions that align with the company's long-term goals.
- Evaluate potential risks and opportunities to guide the organization towards growth and success.
- Deep knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights for strategic planning.
- Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to improve processes and systems.
- Ability to adapt to changing business environments and industry trends.
- Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

EXPECTED COMPENSATION
- Annual Base Salary: The expected salary range for this role is $175,000 - $210,000 per annum. Actual offered salary will depend on individual experience, qualifications, geographic location, market conditions for the role, and internal equity.
