Potential for this contract to be extended or converted to FTE? Not sure, this is completely dependent on what is available at the time of contract end.
Work Schedule (hours per week, start time): 37.5 Hours/week, 9-5 Monday to Friday
Potential for OT? Based on approval - must ask ahead of time if additional hours are required.
Interview Process: Panel style Interview through MS Teams. Focusing on the candidates skill set and gauge their experience in the type of work they would be doing in this role.
With who? Scrum Master, individuals from LOB and Hiring manager
Decisioning process on offers: panelists will discuss ad decision will be made within 24 hours.
Reason the role is open? Piloting a new work model within an agile pod requiring a copywriter to complete outputs.
What project will this contractor be working on? Part of pilot POD to bring Copywriting in-house for day to day operations.
Team Culture? Fast paced, can be a lot of pressure as there are executive eyes on this portfolio. Team is fun – very mixed demographic. Immediate team is 9 people plus the manager but part of larger team of 30. All roll up into larger money-in marcom department.

Who Will the Candidate Be Working with on a Daily Basis?
You will be joining the Credit Card Pod within People, Culture and Brand (PC&B) and reporting into the Director of Marketing Communications, Cards Engagement.
JOB PURPOSE
- As part of the Sales Force Marketing Cloud Agile Marketing Pod you will use your Editorial skills to help bring to life the CIBC purpose and our commitment to helping our clients succeed.
- The English Editor will recommend copy solutions based on an understanding of the business, marketing, user experience, and technology requirements and constraints. This will involve working as part of collaborative, cross-disciplinary teams to deliver copy that completes a cohesive brand and user experience. The ideal candidate must be able to work to tight deadlines, have strong attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- You will bring the CIBC brand to life with designs that align with CIBC brand guidelines.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collaboration: The role involves being part of an Agile cross-functional team that is responsible for delivering email campaigns deployed through the Sales Force Marketing Cloud platform, the ideal candidate is able to manage multiple initiatives at one time, requiring excellent organizational and time management skills. You will be working as part of a collaborative, cross-disciplinary agile pod.
- Maintain and Share Editorial Standards and updates with the teams.
- Communicate with confidence: You use your communication skills and consultation to present and revise copy decks at in-person stakeholder review meetings with partners and executives from across CIBC. Your solid interpersonal skills are a must for collaborating with diverse stakeholders, sales leads and internal pod members such as designers, translators and developers.
- Work closely and collaboratively with cross-disciplinary Agile teams to understand goals and objectives, as well as technical, legal and regulatory constraints. Able to translate complex business objectives into simple language.
- Ensure that all content adheres to CIBC Brand guidelines.
- Present copy to stakeholders. Ensure deliverables follow the appropriate review and approval process, soliciting feedback as needed.
- Ensure deliverables are executed on time by making copy recommendations that align with campaign objectives.
Must Have Requirement:
- 5+ years of experience writing, editing, proofing copy across various platforms.
- Degree/diploma in English, Journalism or equivalent experience and certifications
- Solid understanding of WCAG accessibility requirements and inclusive digital design principles
- Experience in digital marketing
- Proficiency in MS Office products
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with technologies such as HTML, and content management systems
- Working knowledge of Sales Force Marketing Cloud
- Working knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

- You can craft clear and compelling copy and understand how words can shape an experience. From writing catchy subject lines and headlines, to creating an emotion, to providing step-by-step advice – you’re versatile and can provide content across a range of platforms.
- You’ll review and edit materials as required, and you’ll know how to thoroughly edit and proofread all copy for grammar, spelling, punctuation and usage. You’ll need to maintain organizational knowledge of trademark rules for CIBC products and services, legal and compliance.
Communications support
- You think ‘big picture’ and create quality work that not only meets the goals of the brief, but ensures brand consistency and tone of voice is present and properly applied.
Build internal and external relationships
- Your exceptional writing and presentation skills enable you to work in partnership with graphic designers, marketing stakeholders, subject matter experts, translators and agency partners across CIBC to develop and execute content and support that meets the needs of clients and consumers.
