What You’ll Be Doing
As an Associate on the Rates/Government Spread Product Sales Team, you will support the distribution of bonds, interest rate swaps, and other rates products within the Financial Solutions Group (“FSG”) for CIBC Capital Markets. The role operates in a fast-paced trading floor environment as part of a dynamic, hardworking, production-focused sales team. The incumbent’s mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to FSG clients, with a focus on activities that will increase the distribution of rates products within the fixed income network. The individual must be a trusted partner, providing dedicated support for each district within their geographic coverage area.
We will also consider hiring a Director based on the candidate's level of experience.

How You’ll Succeed

Solutions – Work closely with marketers and traders to develop appropriate solutions and timely execution to FSG clients and collaborate with trading desks in various jurisdictions to work on ideas that fit the risk profile of book, communicate flow and themes from clients, understand the risk and economics behind each trade. Liaising with other CIBC infrastructure groups (ISG, credit, treasury, tax, legal, client onboarding, etc.) and resources, as appropriate, to deliver transactions

Business Development - Initiating and developing clients including outbound and follow up calls, value-add idea generation, client meetings/presentations and customized solutions providing trusted advice. Partner with equity market colleagues in marketing, developing ideas, pitching clients and deepening client relationships

Client Focus - Provide product information to our clients in a timely manner with exemplary service. Cross-sell other products, depending on product availability and client mandates, at all times making sound judgment while monitoring and analyzing market activities, economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to effectively respond to client requests

Product Knowledge - Have a strong understanding of cash/derivative operations and settlement, work closely with internal and external ops teams, help streamline our day to day operation process. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of FSG
Who You Are

You can demonstrate 2-5 years of sales experience in a Capital Markets capacity and possess knowledge of current financial markets

You have an undergraduate university degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, STEM programs

You put our clients first. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, internal and/or external business partners

You can demonstrate highly developed communication skills, both oral and written, sufficient to convey complex factual and conceptual information on issues requiring detailed explanation and interpretation

You are technically savvy. Proficient technical skills, with a knowledge of Bloomberg, Excel, VBA, and general coding practices

You're a Registered Representative with CIRO. You have completed and/or are willing to complete CPH and CSC courses and register with CIRO
