Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. The fractional CFO will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy of the organization, overseeing all financial operations, and ensuring the long-term financial health of the company. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of corporate finance, risk management, and business development. As the key member of the executive management team at The Great Canadian Landscaping Company, we are looking for a Fractional CFO that will interact with senior management, accounting and finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and account reconciliation.
- Lead the finance team in managing day-to-day financial operations and reporting.
- Conduct risk management assessments to identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with other executives to drive business development initiatives and support sales efforts.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, clients, and partners to optimize financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to corporate finance and accounting practices.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for senior leadership team
- Foster a culture of accountability within the finance team through effective leadership and mentorship.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role within a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of corporate finance principles, budgeting processes, and account reconciliation practices.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in developing high-performing teams
- Provide strategic recommendations and objectives to CEO/President and members of the executive management team
- Proficiency in risk management strategies and business development practices and advise on long term business and financial planning
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or relevant certification is preferred.
- Reviewing formal finance, HR and IT related procedures
- Provide leadership, direction and management to the accounting team
An MBA or CPA is also highly desirable. At least 10 years' experience in the finance industry and proven leadership and management experience is essential – with examples of when they have demonstrated excellence in the workplace.
As the CFO, you must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the executive presence to work with senior management and potential investors. You must be able to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgement.
Preference will be given to individuals with small to medium business experience and previous experience with scaling a business with plans for future growth. The ideal candidate has experience in a Construction or Landscape related enterprise.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: $120.00-$175.00 per hour
