Media Relations Internship Media Relations Internship – Job Description
- As an intern with the Media Relations team, you’ll support media campaigns and projects that generate earned coverage with measurable results.
- Working in an integrated manner with communicators across the bank, you’ll contribute in many ways including helping to think of creative ways to amplify and extend our earned media coverage with both internal and external audiences.
- Updating and supporting the development of media materials such as press releases and briefing documents.
- Providing support for various lines of business through research, media relations, and organizing interviews.
- Providing real-time media coverage updates on the bank and industry news.
- Compiling media coverage reports and maintaining databases of relevant coverage.
- Drafting and maintaining media lists, setting up press releases for distribution, and managing translation.
- Handling team and media requests as appropriate.
- Maintaining various team schedules.
- Building effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders as required.
- Supporting media relations efforts across all lines of business as needed.
Media Relations Internship – Mandatory Skills
- Ideally a recent graduate of a college or university program with a post-graduate certificate in Public Relations or Communications.
- Exceptional ability to proofread, prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to quickly identify and summarize key points.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor under all circumstances.
- Ability to take direction and follow through on tasks without supervision.
- Ability to meet prescribed deadlines, using initiative and problem-solving skills to overcome barriers to getting the job done.
- Familiarity and interest in current events and the financial sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Operating System and Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint.
- Knowledge of Canadian Press style.
Media Relations Internship – Preferred Skills
- Experience in Public Relations or previous internship, considered an asset.
- Strong interest in the Canadian and U.S. media landscapes.
- Experience with media monitoring tools a plus.
