GIS Data Analyst for provincial government agency client, North York.

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: February 3, 2025 to June 27, 2025.
Target Compensation: From $32 per hour to $38 per hour, according to experience.
Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME WORK HOURS – 7.25 work hours per day, not including unpaid .75 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (36.25 work hours per week).
Work Location: 100% onsite at Client's North York office, with free parking provided.
Responsibilities Summary:
To maintain and prepare GIS data and products, providing data analytics support through execution of large, province wide project.
- Execute collection, tracking and documentation of a large volume of GIS data and geographical information in Ontario.
- Oversee quality control process on address data, validating information and making corrections throughout project, ensuring data integrity, security and confidentiality.
- Work with other data analytics team members to refine, implement and execute data matching and processing, rules and programs for a variety of project related tasks.
- Participate in requirements gathering and user acceptance testing for changes impacting frequently used systems and applications.
- Generate, distribute and track address lists for project stakeholders.
- Other data analysis and reporting responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Geography/Geographic Information Systems, Computer or Data Science, or applicable combination of work experience and education.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 4+ years of professional GIS experience.
Preferred Sector Experience: Public Sector experience an asset.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Advanced proficiency with ESRI tools like ArcGIS PRO, ArcGIS Online, ArcMap.
- Strong, hands-on experience programming with SQL in a SQL Server environment.
- Familiarity with Jira an asset.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong business writing skills and professional verbal presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences.
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Advanced professional understanding of the software development life cycle, including business requirements fathering, documentation and testing.
- Demonstrated experience working with ESRI tools, applications, and online services, as well as other GIS tools, applications, and open-source offerings.
- Strong broad technical, problem solving and self-motivation skills to effectively execute high volume data tasks with minimal support in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Professional experience working with Jira a strong asset for this position.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to work closely with other technical staff to achieve common goals and translate data into easy-to-understand statistical information.
- Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organizational policy.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
- Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
