About Us:
RACA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the overview and operation of arena facilities in partnership with the City of Richmond. We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working in the not-for-profit sector and possesses strong accounting skills, with experience managing day-to-day financial operations.
Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. This role is key to supporting the financial health and sustainability of our not for profit organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, ensuring financial goals align with the organization’s mission.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations and the not-for-profit sector guidelines.
- Prepare and file government remittances such as GST/HST and payroll taxes.
- Assist with the preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Process donations, grants, and sponsorships, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Support financial decision-making by providing timely and accurate financial data.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and documentation, including receipts and invoices.
- Liaise with the RACA Board Executive, RACA’s food and beverage manager, and City of Richmond’s Arena Services staff.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Proficient in accounting software Sage 300 and MS Excel.
- Experience with payroll processing and familiarity with Canadian payroll regulations.
- Knowledge of CRA requirements, including the filing of PST, GST, WorkSafe BC.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field .
- Experience with fundraising or grant management.
- Knowledge of budgeting for non-profits or public sector organizations.
- Experience working with not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
