As a Business Analyst specializing in Payroll Operations, you will play a crucial role in optimizing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, will be essential to implement changes effectively.
A day in the life of a Business Analyst, Payroll Operations includes:
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, assisting the team with extracting timecard, payroll registers
- Assess current payroll processes and identify opportunities to streamline operations. Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with payroll operations, AMS, IT Technical team for implementation of payroll control center
- Building the wage type matrix and own the workflow of the wage types creation processing
- Assisting the payroll operations team with the year-end audit functionality and quarterly Business Numbers reconciliations
- Conduct detailed process mapping of the payroll workflow from start to finish. Analyze existing payroll processes and identify areas for improvement or optimization. Develop comprehensive job aids, manuals, and documentation to support payroll operations.
- Develop process to engage the operations team with year-end reconciliations and processing of the same in timely manner
- Collaborate with Business Analyst systems and Senior Payroll Manager on building easy year-end template and upload functionality
- Stay updated on relevant payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Ensure payroll processes adhere to legal standards and industry best practices
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement system upgrades or enhancements to payroll software. Test and validate system changes to ensure functionality and accuracy
- Provide production support for SAP HR/Payroll and Timekeeping modules including tax reporting, testing upgrades, resolving integration issues with financial modules, supporting key constituencies, and resolving system problems
- Communicate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems to technical teams designing and implementing the solution. Assist with creating user guides and training
For this role, you'll come equipped with:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or relevant certification is a plus
- Payroll certification is an asset (PCP)
- 3-5 years working experience in payroll/accounting/finance or similar field.
- Knowledge of payroll and payroll accounting principles and practices
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with proven capability to work cross functionally
- Ability to manage multiple projects/assignments, ability to work with a broad range of administrative, technical, and functional staff
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude to understand data flow and system interaction
- Expertise in facilitation, negotiation, gaining consensus and managing conflicting set of requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills – will be working with service providers and HR staff
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of office technologies (MS Excel, Outlook, and Word)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Demonstrated proactive work ethic and sense of urgency to do what it takes to get the job done
The salary range for this position is: $80,000.00-$100,000.00
