The Department of Anesthesia Research is currently looking for a Temporary Part-time Research Assistant I. In this position, the individual will perform research activities related to anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, and pain medicine. The work will involve project design, and collecting, summarizing and/or analyzing data. Other tasks include assisting with study administration, adhering to research protocol, recruitment and follow up of study participants, and working with the study manager/Investigator to carry out various aspects of conducting a clinical trial. This position will principally involve in-person work on site at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs literature searches/data mining on requested topics through databases.
- Generates draft protocols of search strategies for systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
- Understands, interprets, and processes data.
- Collects, compiles, updates, and conducts statistical analyses.
- Drafts manuscripts and reports.
- Collects feedback from multiple partners on projects re: proposals, manuscripts, and dissemination tools including record keeping of feedback.
- Incorporates feedback to generated updated manuscripts and reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably with 1-2 years of research experience)
- Basic computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology
- Progressively responsible experience in a clerical position.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
- Able to keep written records
- Able to understand written and verbal directions
