Job Summary:
Reporting to the Specialist, Absence Management, the Coordinator, Absence Management will support the disability management process for both occupational and non-occupational illness or injury.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all activities related to team member’s disability/workers compensation claim including the facilitation and timely submission of paperwork
- Facilitate the submission of illness or injury claims with third party insurance carriers and independent claim adjudicators
- Ensure paperwork submission requirements are met in a timely manner
- Monitor email requests and respond to routine questions from team members, managers and third party administrators
- Collaborate with team members, managers, insurance carriers and People and Culture Advisors with respect to return to work and accommodation
- Liaise with Payroll to report absences, research discrepancies, and resolve employee record issues
- Assist with data collection for reporting purposes
- Maintain and update team member records including enrolments, changes and terminations in conjunction with the Benefits Coordinator
- Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.

Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of work experience in an administrative role
- University Degree/Certificate in Human Resources Management and/or diploma/degree, preferably in a health related field such as disability management, occupational therapy, or vocational rehabilitation or equivalent is an asset
- Proven Customer Service
- Experience with internal people systems, for example, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience in Google suite, Gmail, drive, docs and sheets
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
