Position Summary
A "locate" is a legal document identifying underground utility lines, issued by various Locate Service Providers (LSPs). Locate Coordinators play a crucial role in tracking and monitoring locates to ensure the safety and efficiency of projects from start to finish. At Powerline Plus Ltd., Locate Coordinators work closely with Project Coordinators in the Civil Construction Department to plan, organize, and request locates for civil projects. They also maintain ongoing communication with QA/QC Inspectors, Civil Foremen, Civil Supervisors, Project Coordinators, and external utility companies.
Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Completion of a one- or two-year program in Administrative Assistant, Business Administration, Office Administration, or a related discipline
- Minimum of two years' experience as a Locate Coordinator
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Civil Supervisors, and the Civil Construction Manager to determine and request locates
- Monitor ongoing projects and coordinate with the Project Coordinator to schedule locate requests
- Liaise with utility companies to request locates
- Conduct quality checks to ensure areas are accurately located
- Coordinate with Rogers and Bell regarding damaged wires (drops)
- Review engineering blueprints and request locates as necessary
- Compile and submit reports to Locate Service Providers for overdue locates
- Perform clerical duties, including word processing, maintaining filing systems, and handling documentation for locate paperwork
- Perform various administrative tasks as needed
