Job Description
As part of the expansion plans in Canada, we are looking for an experienced, energetic, passion-for-construction and retail, a Construction & Design Coordinator to join our Construction Department overseeing all of our retail stores in the GTA across our 4 banners (Nike, Mango, Fox Home, and Laline). This position reports directly to the Director of Construction & Design.
Here’s some of what you’ll do:
- Assist estimating in the tendering process as required and in preparation of tender documents
- Prepare contract documents with the desired scope of work for Project Manager’s review
- Assist in the management of all aspects of the project
- Assist the project team with the initial mobilization and setup of the construction site
- Responsible for coordination of project documentation, which includes, but not limited to: meeting minutes, Change Orders/Site Instructions, Owner's Instructions, Shop Drawings and Drawing Log, mock up review documentation, draft Progress Claims, field notices and sustainability requirements, Waste Management
- Set up and maintain project reporting procedures: cost reports, production report input, project status reports, document drawing control, shop drawing document control
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs (RFI, Vendor/Subcontractor, Purchase, Owner etc.), track responses and advise stakeholders
- Assist in the recording & management of trade contractor site meetings, RFIs, invoices and control document process
- Read, interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications, the city codes and ordinances regarding building codes and permit issuance
- Edit and distribute weekly/monthly reports
- Perform other duties that may be assigned as necessary
- Cost Management Assist the PM with updates to the Master schedule with input from the project team.
- Assist in pricing change orders
- Track, review and distribute project proposals of change and change orders
- Verify the accuracy of change orders and ensure that change orders are signed in a timely manner, and prior to commencement of the work
- Assist Project Manager with shop drawing review and processing
- Perform periodic field inspections of projects both prior to and during construction to determine compliance with approved plans and regulations at the request of inspector.
- Assist with constructability review, document and follow up identified itemsEnsure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
Communication
- Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems
- Establish effective on-site communications and progress reporting with subtrades and GCs
- Prepare and maintain required records and written reportsFoster a culture of open communication and collaboration within and across teams
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Technical diploma in an appropriate construction-related field (CET), or equivalent construction experience
- Construction / Engineering degree is preferred
- French is a preference
- One or more years of experience as a Project Coordinator
- Able to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
- Ability to work in time-sensitive and high-pressure environment while maintaining a high level of quality
- A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
- Understanding of the requirements and process for construction competition certificates
- Good writing and verbal communication skills
- A keen eye for detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Able to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
- Able to deal with people sensitively, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Flexible – able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.Frequent travel to local sites and off-sites locations my be required
