Our client, a leader in the industrial sector, is seeking a detail-oriented Project Cost Specialist to join their finance team on a 1 year term. This role involves close collaboration with the maintenance team to manage and oversee project costs from planning through to completion. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the maintenance team and project managers to record and track all project-related costs, including purchase orders, forecasts, inventory, and other expenditures.
- Conduct monthly cost reviews to identify and report budget variances.
- Support project planning by providing accurate cost forecasts and regular budget updates.
- Attend project meetings to communicate cost updates, schedule changes, and forecasts.
- Coordinate the processing of purchase orders, change orders, and vendor invoices to keep projects on track.
- Review contractor invoices, monitor expenses, and handle monthly accruals.
- Propose improvements to existing financial controls and systems for enhanced cost management.
- Assist with project close-out tasks and respond to ad hoc financial and project-related requests.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in business, finance, or a related field.
- Experience in project cost management; knowledge of enterprise systems like JD Edwards is an asset.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and a solid understanding of financial controls and cost tracking.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and function well within a team.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and contract management is a plus.
