EDO (Engineering Design Organization) is looking for a
Junior BIM Coordinator who is ready to join our growing Canadian Operations within EDO. This role will be based in our offices in the Greater Toronto Area, Whitby & Waterloo, ON.
Our EDO BIM Group works within a collaborative environment for various large-scale Provincial, Regional, Municipal industrial and commercial projects. Our team provides integrated Engineering services THAT facilitate project lifecycle from initial policy and promotes project economics and business case advice, through concept, environmental assessment, detailed design, permitting, construction administration and asset management support services.
Skills, Competencies And Qualifications
Accountable for:
- Assist with implementing project/client software templates and standards, and ensure technical processes are integrated into project workflows and followed.
- Assist in conduct model audits to ensure compliance and report on outcomes.
- Help coordinate and manage project federated model(s) and linked drawing deliverables and documentation outputs.
- Assist with tendering, proposals, and submissions to define BIM scope, workflows, and plans on projects.
- Realize BIM compliance through technical design requirements and BEP requirements.
- Help customize authoring tool templates for specific EDO disciplines.
- Ensure spatial coordination and software interoperability.
- Help BIM Coordinators with federated project model and clash reporting models.
- Check models for overall health quality and good work habits.
- Provide training and assistance to project's.
- Assist with the implementation of project/client software templates and standards.
- Work with the BIM Manager/coordinators to ensure BIM and other technical processes are integrated into project workflows and are followed.
- Assist with model audits for model integrity compliance and report on outcomes.
- Assist in the coordination and management of project federated model(s) and any linked drawing deliverables and documentation outputs.
- Provide team with assistance during tendering, proposals and submissions to help define BIM scope, workflows and plans on projects.
- Aid BIM Managers/Coordinators in realizing BIM compliance through technical design requirements and BEP requirements.
- Assist specific EDO disciplines with authoring tool template customization.
- Help project teams to ensure/enforce spatial coordination (software interoperability)
- Help BIM Coordinators with federated project model and clash reporting models/
- Supporting Discipline Leads in checking models for general ‘good work’ habits and quality health checks.
- Aid BIM Managers/Coordinators in providing training and assistance to the project team specific to BIM-related best practices, procedures and standards.
- Help ensure Project Information Models (PIMs) are delivered in accordance with the agreed project BIM protocols and development plans.
- Assist Project Coordinators meet validate levels of model development at each project stage.
- Assist with the manage model transfer and version control protocols.
- Assist with reviewing and maintaining the naming convention standards and project folder locations.
- Assist with EDO and project specific BIM training documentation.
- Assist with the monitoring and validation of the Asset Information Model tagging with all related project documents e.g., the H&S file(s) and O&M Manual(s).
- Help BIM Coordinators with handover of information at project milestones.
Success Measures
- Sharing knowledge and lessons learned with the EDO BIM Team/project teams.
- Helping in finding time efficiency and budget savings.
- Ensuring consistent quality of models and deliverables is received.
- Models that meet project and client requirements.
- Project deliverables are delivered in line with the design team's requirements and expected quality
- Evidence that incremental improvement has occurred with the business group/team.
Competencies/Capabilities
General:
- Understanding of GHD Winning Work and Project Delivery systems.
- Assist and manage design related tasks and issues (design management skills).
- Identifies and rectifies any issues; communicates effectively with the Project BIM Manager/Project BIM Coordinators as necessary (critical thinking skills).
- Possesses a sound discipline understanding of BIM. Able to effectively coordinate design, across disciplines.
- Ability to have sound understanding of project, contractual and modelling requirements.
- Ability to manage peak work periods for delivery and stressful periods.
- Understanding client and custom software templates to suit project specific needs.
Technical:
- Software Capabilities may include but are not limited to: BIM 360, ACC, Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Synchro 4D, ProjectWise, MicroStation.
- Possesses general software skills and a solid understanding of software interoperability.
- Understands ISO19650 compliant workflows and can lead others in this area (including Parts 1, 2 and 3).
- Understanding of Common Data Environment (CDE) configuration and ongoing information management processes, systems and information states (i.e., BIM360, ACC, ProjectWise).
- Sound understanding of Level of Development (LOD) definitions and integration.
Behavioural:
- Is an effective communicator; able to communicate and direct across the project team.
- Possesses excellent soft skills, interpersonal and good listening skills, plus collaboration abilities.
- Capable of helping BIM Managers/Coordinators lead and motivate others effectively.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year experience working within BIM projects.
- Diploma or higher-level qualification in relevant field.
- Acquired or eligible for BIM certification (if applicable).
