The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist, IYIP, is responsible for engaging and recruiting youth across Canada for the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), a transformative initiative supporting individuals facing employment barriers. Working closely with the Coordinator and General Manager of International Programs, the Specialist ensures seamless coordination of all aspects of the program, from documentation to logistics, enabling successful internships abroad. By fostering access to global opportunities in countries such as Colombia, Ghana, Togo, and Sierra Leone, this position empowers participants to gain invaluable experience while overcoming barriers.
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of innovative recruitment and engagement strategies to identify youth from across the country for participation in IYIP.
- Recruit, interview, and select eligible youth to participate in the program in partnership with overseas YMCAs.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, including travel requirements such as insurance, vaccinations, and visa applications, and follow up as needed.
- Coordinate logistics for Canadian interns participating in YMCA IYIP.
- Support internal and external youth initiatives, including consultations, events, leadership development opportunities, and community engagement activities.
- Support design and deliver in-person and virtual orientation and debrief programs, including preparation of webinars and training materials.
- Support the provision of pre-departure orientation and post-experience debrief and follow-up.
- Collaborate with planning of national and global YMCA events and meetings, both virtual and in-person.
- Develop materials to amplify messaging for IYIP, including public engagement activities.
- Provide administrative support to global partners, including preparation of Partnership Agreements, processing wire transfers, and tracking and reviewing reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with diverse talent pools, institutions, and community organizations.
- Manage and organize documents, maintain workflows, and collaborate using SharePoint or similar platforms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Formal education in one or more of the following areas: youth engagement, positive youth development, international/community development, social sciences, education, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in youth engagement, program coordination, or a related field.
- Experience designing and coordinating creative, accessible, inclusive, interactive, and engaging youth events, programs, and/or trainings both online and in-person.
- Experience successfully coordinating logistics for events, programs, and/or international placements.
- Strong administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparing high-quality communications, presentations, and other materials for diverse stakeholders.
- Strong initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a strong capacity for collaboration and engaging diverse communities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish.
- A comprehensive understanding of the diversity of lived experiences and issues facing youth across Canada and globally.
