Hours: 35 hours per week - (9:00 PM-5:00 AM, Tuesday - Saturday)

Campus/Location: North Campus (with occasional work at the Lakeshore Campus based on operational needs)
Salary: FT Support Payband C: $24.96 – $29.02

Within Residence Services, our dedicated team oversees key portfolios: Residence Admissions, Residence Operations, Front Desk & Summer Operations, and Residence Life. Together, we deliver exceptional service and foster a connected, inclusive, and thriving living environment.
About The Assistant, Night Operations Role
Reporting to the Manager, Residence Operations, the Night Operations Assistant supports the overnight operations of the Residence. The Night Operations Assistant will be working with Front Desk, Housekeeping, Residence Life and the Department of Public Safety to help residents and conference guests feel welcome and safe. The Night Operations Assistant will attend to facility concerns that may occur after hours, including urgent cleaning, minor repairs, housekeeping and occasional conference room set up. The incumbent will encourage students to take responsibility for the cleanliness and maintenance of the residence, promote building security and expectations for personal and community safety, enforce policies, resolve minor maintenance issues, and develop positive working relationships with other staff and departments.
At the Front Desk, the Night Operations Assistant maintains up-to-date student and guest information using appropriate software applications; acts as the main information resource for students, guests, conference guests, and contractors; and directs calls, visitors, and contractors to the right place or staff person.
Some of the responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to:
Attends To Facility Concerns By
- Attending to lock issues, leaks, burnt out light bulbs, elevator breakdowns, vandalism and damages that occur after regular business hours or as assigned
- Performing minor repairs and clean ups of areas that may become a safety hazard
- Logging work orders
- Conducting inspections of common areas nightly, and vacant residence rooms before move in/after move out. Setting up rooms as needed
- Attends to Summer Conference guests’ needs after regular hours (ie. Supplying towels, plunging toilets)
Responds To Residence Policy Violations Such As
- Noise, alcohol in common areas, unauthorized guests, smoking outside of designated area escalates as appropriate
- Completes appropriate documentation
Provides Coverage For The Front Desk By
- Covering staff breaks and when Front Desk staff are unavailable
- Providing additional Front Desk support during busy periods
- Supporting Residence Assistants and other Residence staff in the performance of their duties
Conducts Walks Of All Residence Areas
- Paying attention to student behaviour, the physical building condition and that the building is secure
- Works with Residence Life Staff and Department of Public Safety in responding to urgent and non-urgent situations in Residence
