Job Description
The Transportation Dispatcher will report directly to the Manager of Torizon Logistics.
This position will coordinate the pickup and delivery of all brokered loads within the assigned lane of the dispatch team. You will be required to understand and fulfill the customer needs and expectations based on region, commodity, temperature, appointment requirements and any other relevant details. You will be responsible for building carrier relations by securing trucks and negotiating competitive market rates. This position will operate primarily out of the Ontario Food Terminal location but will require the ability to travel to our 302 Dwight Ave. location on occasion.
Although the primary schedule for this individual is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, our ideal candidate must be willing to work a flexible, rotational on-call after hours shift which includes evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Contact and book carriers while ensuring the best rates and turnaround times for the customer
- Loading and scheduling trucks from designated USA shipping regions
- Multi-task, organize and prioritize information with Buyers and Shippers
- Work collectively with internal and external business partners to provide accurate and timely dispatching services
- Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with customer base

Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- Entry level experience in transportation, 3PL, or freight forwarding an asset
- Degree or Diploma in a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Fresh Produce knowledge and/or experience a major asset
- Working knowledge of Loadlink or other dispatching software an asset
- Understanding of United States geography an asset

- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
