Position Summary:
BCIT’s Respect, Diversity and Inclusion department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Coordinator, Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion. This position provides a broad range of administrative and coordination support to the Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI) department and acts as the first point of contact. Supports the RDI team in the planning and delivery of events and services to help the BCIT community in developing a respectful working and learning environment where conflict is resolved through dialogue, discussion, education, training, and support.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Serves as the first point of contact for the RDI Department. Provides preliminary RDI information as appropriate and refers to the Director, Advisors or other services/resources outside the scope of the RDI area as appropriate.
- Coordinates and participates in RDI training sessions and workshops, including preparing presentations, online registration, and promotion of the event(s); assembles and formats training materials. Audits employee completion records of the Respectful Workplace Training.
- Participates in various events to promote the services provided by the RDI department and supports other departments’ events that are relevant to the work of RDI. Participates as an active member and provides administrative support to the Diversity Circles committee.
- Collaborates with the RDI team to prepare reports and documents and provides support to other projects as needed. Conducts research and collect data on human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism issues as needed.
- Manages and maintains the RDI intranet and website with the goal of engaging the BCIT community. Coordinates the development and publication of the monthly RDI newsletter. Liaises with the Imaging and Marketing and Communications departments to create or order promotional materials.
- Books appointments, meeting, events and rooms, prepares agendas, takes minutes, coordinates support services and catering, monitors and orders office equipment and supplies. Assists with making travel arrangements, conference bookings, and other registrations for the department as necessary.
- Coordinates all administrative activities, ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the RDI office. Includes developing and maintaining the necessary administrative processes and procedures.
- Maintains confidential filing system for sensitive information and adheres to records management guidelines including disposition and retention of files. Assists with the maintenance of the RDI service request database.
- Performs various finance activities, including creating purchase orders, processing invoices and honorarium requests, reconciling monthly purchase card statements, expenses, and travel claims. Creates RTUNES (Request To Use Non-Employee Services) as required.
- Assists the Director with the annual budget process and runs monthly financial reports for all RDI department related organizational codes. Collates statistics for use in reports as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, business administration, or social sciences.
- Three years of direct, relevant experience supporting the advancement of equity, diversity and inclusion practices.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Interest in and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, human rights, and anti-racism issues.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to provide clear explanations of policy, procedure, and other factual information.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience interacting with highly agitated and emotional people.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals (staff, faculty, students, and managers) at every level of BCIT.
- Advanced office administration, information management and organizational skills.
- Takes initiative to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Solid planning, project management skills.
- Willingness to participate and to learn new programs.
- Advanced proficiency with standard office systems and applications.

Salary Range: $65,404 - $87,887 with a control point of $81,755 per annum.
Additional Salary Information: The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and the maximum base salary for a position. The control point of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred, or promoted between the minimum and the control point of the salary range for a job, taking internal equity into account. Salaries above the control point may be considered for extenuating circumstances and must be approved by an external governing body.
