We are currently looking for a Purchaser to join our growing family. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player who demonstrates strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to build/maintain strong relationships with our suppliers.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Perform purchasing functions as part of the Purchasing Team.
· Purchase goods that are aligned with the needs and objectives of the organization incl. type, quantity, quality, and cost.
· Negotiate transportation arrangements, prices, discounts, and credit terms.
· Coordinate the shipment and receipt of goods from suppliers to the organization’s facilities.
· Maintain required stock levels consistent to organizational guidelines taking into consideration lead times and the broader supply chain environment.
· Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses.
· Establish/maintain strong relationships with key supplier contacts.
· Source new suppliers to lower our product costs and broaden our product range.
· Develop and execute strategies to reduce product costs including renegotiating prices, reviewing purchasing terms, establishing purchasing contracts, engaging new suppliers etc.
· Collaborate with colleagues and industry peers to exchange information, such as selling strategies, market trends, market pricing, and the competitive landscape.
· Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export documentation; compliance with import/export regulations, customs requirements, and trade agreements governing international trade.
· Monitor and track international shipments, coordinating with logistics providers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
· Stay updated on global market developments, risks, and regulatory changes affecting international trade.
· Maintain records of all transactions and submit to the Accounting Team for auditing purposes.
· Provide other operational support as required (or as assigned) from time to time.
Skills & Requirements
· Diploma in business, supply chain management, or related field of study is preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the food and beverage industry (food distribution industry is preferred). Exceptional candidates with less experience will also be considered.
· Good command of MS Office; experience in inventory management software is a plus;
· Strong communication and negotiation skills.
· Detailed oriented, has a strong sense of priority along with the ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
· Self starter, proactive and fast learner;
· Ability to speak both English and Cantonese, fluency in Mandarin is an asset.
