the Job Summary:
FITCS is currently seeking a Program Facilitator partime for our restorative justice program. The facilitators role is to facilitate meetings, training sessions, and healing circles and provide case management supports that will ensure youth are connected to identified services and supports. The facilitator will provide a range of support to youth their families; community stakeholders and Youth Justice Court in the City of Toronto and GTA. This position carries responsibility for engaging youth in a restorative justice program, fostering healthy enviorments and relationships with clients, community groups and justice stakeholders. The facilitator will be a motived, innovative, creative and skilled individual who works well independently and with the team.
Responsibilities:
· Engage clients and stakeholders in the restorative justice program and activities that promote assets, competencies and resiliency,
· Utilize a case management approach, and develop effective service delivery plans that ensure that youth have access to programs, services and opportunities needed for healthy development.
· Meet quantitative targets set by the funder and complete program administrative duties as required, ensuring that documentation and service statistics on the Attendence record, Intake and Assessment, and Outreach Record (OR) are completed.
· Develop a proactive positive relationships approach when connecting youth to referrals and support in the community and while planning, promoting and coordinating youth outreach services.
· Engage youth to identify issues, needs, goals aspirations, skills, abilities and services needed as well as barriers to accessing these services.
· Lead, develop, implement and participate in healing circles activities in the GTA community, as well as in any other identified target areas.
· Work collaboratively and coordinate services with youth and their ecosystem, which may include: parents, Health Promotion Officers, schools, police, and other service providers.
· Facilitate partnerships with community agencies, business, government and informal community groups to offer programs using arts, culture, civic engagement, and recreation.
· Organize and help deliver public education seminars, workshops, groups and training for youth, parents and service providers specific to the Restorative Justice program.
· Work in collaboration with other youth programs to strengthen and enhance the restorative justice program.
· Actively participate in team meetings, network meetings and partnership and collaboration opportunities.
· Help establish and maintain effective communication and positive relationships between youth, staff and others in the community.
· Provide services within an understanding of the context of oppression, poverty and diversity.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Child and Youth Worker Diploma/Social Service Worker and 1 year of directly related experience; or related Bachelor’s Degree.
· Past experience working with high needs communities, and highly disengaged youth, building, supporting and creating new and existing partnerships through ongoing engagement opportunities.
· Knowledge of Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)
· Knowledge and or experience in Healing Circles and restorative Justice.
· Knowledge of the Stages of Change Framework and its use as a tool to support youth
· Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and negotiate effectively within a multi- disciplinary team of service providers.
· Ability to provide high-quality, client focused service, delivered in a positive, professional, compassionate manner.
· An ability to utilize a case management approach in ensuring youth are connected to necessary services and supports.
· An understanding and knowledge of issues such as diversity, oppression, street gangs, violence, substance abuse, racism and harassment as they relate to youth and families and the ability to deal with these issues as they arise.
· The ability to work with minimal supervision, to manage time effectively and to accept changes in the work environment.
· Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.
· The willingness and flexibility to alter work schedules and regular duties, including working evenings and weekends.
· Writing and analytical skills and ability to provide reports within timelines.
· Strong skills in Microsoft Work, Outlook and Excel.
· Current CPR an asset.
· Valid Police Records Check prior to starting employment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
