Job Summary

We are seeking a Traffic Engineering Planner to join our TYLin | City Solutions team in the Greater Toronto Area.
This position will report to the Director, Traffic, and will require 2-3 years of experience in Transportation Planning/Engineering. The candidate will be responsible for to promote and provide professional consulting services in transportation planning and design engineering, class environmental assessment, road safety audits, traffic impact assessments and parking assessments to company clients, in accordance with professional and corporate guidelines.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of proposals, budgets and schedules for traffic and transportation planning consulting and design projects.
- Preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary / detailed designs for highways, roads and intersections, area transportation studies, traffic operations and parking demand investigations, analyses and recommendations, and site impact analyses.
- Communicate with clients and approval agencies to expedite projects.
- Participate in client progress meetings and public presentations.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with assigned clients and regulatory approval officials. Participates with senior management in promotional activities for the company.
- Provides project status reports on a regular basis and as required.
- Assumes related responsibilities and projects as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Transportation Engineering/Engineering Technology is required.
- Working towards a Professional Designation in Transportation Engineering/Planning.
- At least 2-3 years of post-secondary experience in Transportation Engineering/Planning.
- Experience in preparing transportation studies in support of development applications, Secondary Plans, Class EA’s, etc.
- Strong computer skills including spreadsheets and specialized software (such as, CCGCALC, HCS, Synchro/Simtraffic, EMME/TransCAD, VISUM-VISSIM, and ACAD).
- Organized and detail oriented
- Capable of producing high quality work under tight timelines
- Strong interpersonal skills oral and written communication
- Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Creative and innovative thinker with sound technical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, associates, and clients
