Sixense Solutions Canada Ltd. ("Sixense") is looking for an Instrumentation Technician to strengthen their capacity to deploy structural and geotechnical Instrumentation. The Instrumentation Technician will prepare, install, and maintain monitoring systems with the support of the local team.
Your Missions With Us
Under the supervision of the Project Manager/Supervisor, performs tasks related to the specialty, in accordance with the company policies, methods and practices.
- Provides recommendations, quality control and support to the Project Manager/ Supervisor.
- Works will take place in the field and the in office.
- Set up and provide support for operating various geotechnical & structural monitoring instruments following Sixense’s procedures in a safe and productive manner.
- Provide timely assistance to Engineers and Technicians as required.
- Assist with the mobilization, installation, and demobilization of equipment in hard-to-access environments.
- Perform routine maintenance and installation of instruments potentially at height, on rails or during the nightshifts.
- Be an active participant and key stakeholder in Sixense’s Health and Safety Program; helping to contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Ensure knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before commencing your task.
- Immediately report any incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and the HSE Officer.
- Communicate with the Supervisor or Project Manager any equipment problems or needs, as well as any field observations that might be of use.
- Perform other shop functions as required.
- Seek ways to improve operating procedures/processes.

Here's What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Geotech Preferred) or College Diploma in a Civil Engineering/Construction Technician /Technology is considered an asset
- 1+ years of experience
- Experience or training relevant to the installation and maintenance of geotechnical and structural instruments such as piezometers, inclinometers, extensometers, total stations, including supervision of drilling subcontractor.
- Field investigation experience such as permitting and locates knowledge, various type of drilling experience is preferred.
- Driver’s license (minimum Ontario G Class) with a clean driving record.
- Completion of first aid courses, and/or other industry training is considered an asset.
- MS Word, Excel and Outlook relative to reporting site construction and activities.
- Electrical and mechanical skills are an asset but not required.
- Must possess a strong work ethic and represent the company in a professional manner.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
- Must enjoy working outdoors and travelling to and from different worksites including downtown Toronto.
- Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
