Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the Operation & Maintenance teams to understand/scope out work requests
- Complete associated administrative requirements with each work order using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
- Understands how to read P&ID’s / Piping Diagrams and other technical documents
- Understanding of process and steam piping and its regulations
- Install piping and associated systems, maintain to perform as designed for equipment to operate
- Working knowledge of all types of pipe fittings and connection methods
- Drive to become a site leader for piping related issues and solutions
- Know the importance and relevance of solid preventative maintenance practices as it relates to piping system
- Manage employee and contractors for shutdowns and project work including periodic contact with vendors and suppliers for equipment information
Requirements:
- Red Seal Steam fitter / Gas fitter
- Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Previously completed professional apprenticeship
- Hydraulic (hoses and fittings), Tig and Stick, Stainless steel & aluminum welding, fabrication, lockouts, break in work, instrumentation (control valves)
- Proven track record of working safely at all times
- Strong commitment to ongoing learning and development
- Highly developed communications skills (verbal and written)
- Strong proficiency or willingness to work with computers (i.e. MS Office)
- Effective interpersonal skills, especially between work teams
- Ability to assess and prioritize daily work for execution as per job estimating
- Possess effective time management skills
- Knowledge of continues improvement practices in a dynamic environment
- Ability to make decisions that align to mill policies and procedures
