Summary
The Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto District is recruiting part-time Program Facilitators to join our team.
Program will run online and/or in-person. Candidates must be available to work online and/or in-person.
Program Facilitator specific duties:
Program Facilitators are responsible for promoting volunteerism within LD youth communities by supporting youth in the co-creation of community service projects. This position includes supervising LD youth participants, facilitating leadership opportunities including the development and exploration of volunteer placement opportunities for youth. In this role, you will work with program participants directly, liaise with other Program Facilitators and the community and report directly to the Program Coordinator. This position requires flexible hours, which will include evenings and weekends. You will assist in the collection and presentation of program statistical information and documentation when required.
Further responsibilities include:
- Provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating youth empowered environment for the co creation of community service project
- Build strong rapport with LD youth both in-person and online settings
- Provide professional mentorship, coaching, modelling and facilitation of sessions relating to social service program lifecycles and initiatives
- Support knowledge and skills development during Leadership Camps, workshops, graduations and special event facilitation of all project related activities including Youth project delivery
- Be sensitive and responsive to the needs of vulnerable youth
- Perform administrative duties as assigned
- Participate in audio visual reporting through photos, social media promotion, flyer development and promotional video for youth projects etc.
- Participate in agency-wide activities as assigned; and other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator
- Demonstrating strong problem-solving, sound judgement, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of project outcomes and targets
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with little supervision
- Gather and record monthly and quarterly statistics including participant attendance, budget and evaluations generated from routine documentation
- Collect and report on-going documentation and weekly supervision including client hours of log, action plan, safety checks
**All program workers are involved in program planning, facilitation, and behaviour management.
Qualifications
· A degree or diploma in B.Ed./Child and/or Youth Social Work or a combination of relevant academic degree and professional experience
· Experience working with at-risk youth and newcomer youth with an ability to engage, empower and educate
· Ability to support the co-creation of community service projects with youth within required timeframe
· Keen understanding of the academic and social issues facing youth with Learning Disabilities
· Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
· Experience in outreach and promotion, community development and/or marketing of program(s) and services
· Able to build strong rapport with communities, schools, local agencies and other relevant community stakeholders
· Prior experience with technologies including Zoom, Canva
· Familiarity with various communication platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok etc.
· Experience developing and promoting content on social media and websites
· Excellent organizational, communication and planning skills
· Strong work ethic and excellent time-management skills
· Proficient computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task, problem solve with creative thinking skills
· Able work well independently and in a team environment
· First Aid/CPR Certifications are an asset
· Successful police reference clearance or willing to complete
Terms: Part-Time Position (contract)
Hours: 22-25 hours per week
Reporting: Program Coordinator
Pay rate: $23-24 per hour
