Do you enjoy serving the public and have exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills? If so, the City of Burnaby is looking for Front Counter Clerks to work at Community Police Offices and Main Detachment on an auxiliary basis. This front-line shift work involves clerical, typing, call-taking on a multi-line phone system and some cash handling. Our Front Counter Clerks assist and provide information and assistance to the public and other agencies, relay emergency calls, handle complaints and inquires at the front counter, check and process Motor Vehicle Act Notices and Orders, various forms and applications, Police Information Checks; take fingerprints; operate PRIME and related RCMP computer applications and use a cash register and related equipment. The role performs other related work as required.
The ideal candidate will have availability for on-call coverage and will possess qualifications that include completion of Grade 12 with criminology, psychology, effective communications, or business management courses, and the ability to operate a computer terminal with speed and accuracy. Important attributes include the ability to deal with the public courteously, firmly, and tactfully, both in-person and on the telephone, and to accurately relay emergency situations to the appropriate contacts. The ability to operate PRIME and related RCMP computer applications, cash register, and related equipment is preferred. Successful applicants must obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance.
Pay Rate: $29.48 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
Location: Burnaby RCMP Detachment
Hours of work: The hours of operation for the Front Counter Clerk are 08:00 to 20:00, 7 days a week including Statutory Holidays at the Burnaby RCMP Detachment and Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 at the Community Police Offices. The ideal candidate will have open flexible availability to work a variety of shifts for on-call coverage (morning/afternoon shifts) in either capacity.
