What will you be doing as the Programming & Events Curator?
The Programming & Events Curator will report to the Programming & Events Manager to ensure the successful delivery & coordination of Pride Toronto’s annually produced Festival and special events/programming. They are responsible for the project management, implementation, and execution of several Pride Toronto produced events. This role will ensure that the needs of the community are best reflected at Pride Toronto events. This role also assists in supporting special projects and initiatives such as the Community Prides.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with the Programming & Events Team to coordinate assigned events for Pride Toronto, including but not limited to, Signature Events and Festival Weekend activations
- Organize event details such as decor, catering, transportation, location, meeting links, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, hospitality requirements, financial duties as assigned, and contract delivery
- Work alongside the Events Team to help secure entertainment for events as needed
- Work with the Programming Manager to ensure the Marketing Department has all information to be able to generate marketing materials to promote events and generate attendee interest
- Complete any administrative tasks associated with event production including the run of show, budget, invoicing, building registration forms, and volunteer request forms
- Support on-site event days, including event setup, coordination, and take-down
- Responsible for developing event plans to be submitted for approval. Plans would involve cost analysis, action plans, designs, and workflow
- Work with community advisory groups as required to generate ideas and ensure information is shared to appropriate staff members
- Assist in the programming of Community Pride Spaces
- Maintain Pride Toronto’s data management system
- Liaison with artists to ensure all required information is collected
- Assist in Programming Department Festival programming generation and provide opportunities for workshops, guest speakers and artists
- Assist with other administrative tasks as required
- Assist with festival delivery and ensure any assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner
What are we looking for:
- G license or equivalent is an asset
- Events experience with strong improvisation, strategic planning & problem solving skills
- Customer service experience with strong interpersonal & communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Highly organized with excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
- MS Office proficiency especially in Excel
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and individually, as needed
- Ability to resolve problematic situations quickly
- Keen interest and experience with data management software
