THE ROLE:
Since 2006, First Capital has committed to corporate sustainability through a variety of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. As leaders in the commercial real estate industry, we believe it is our responsibility to drive our sustainability efforts and are committed to doing our part. Our ESG practices are integrated into every aspect of our business – from the design and construction of our properties, to how we support our employees’ mental health and well-being, and the charitable giving we offer our communities.
While we’re proud of our ESG achievements, we know there’s still more to accomplish. As ESG Programs Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in driving our progress forward. Reporting to the Vice President, ESG, you will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating all our investor filings, coauthoring the annual CRS report, and manage tracking and coordination of our ESG programs and initiatives, including our 5-year roadmap.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Coordinate data and content development and drive on going improvement in ESG disclosures included but not limited to: Ontario Energy and Water Benchmark Reporting, preparation of the Company’s annual ESG report, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) submission, Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) submission; other ESG information filing requests (MSCI, ISS Oekom, Sustainalytics, S&P, FTSE, others), and ESG related investor & partner requests.
- Coordinate ESG content with marketing & communications team to promote the progress of our ESG strategy via social media / website / internal HUB.
- Support FCR cross functional teams in the implementation, tracking and maintaining the following national programs: Green building certifications including: LEED, BOMA BEST, WELL Health & Safety; Climate Resiliency Property Programs; Waste reduction programs and targets; Electric vehicle charging network; Rooftop beehive program.
- Ensure consistent measurement and progress reporting of FCR ESG 2020 – 2024 Roadmap initiatives/ KPIs.
- Support in the development and implementation of Tenant Engagement and Employee Engagement in ESG awareness programs.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Undergraduate degree or post-graduate qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Science or related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in ESG reporting, sustainability initiatives, or environmental program coordination, with hands-on implementation of sustainability programs considered a strong asset.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Previous knowledge of sustainability/ESG reporting considered an asset.
- Passion for ESG and a belief in the importance of supporting a corporate strategy to drive a positive change.
- Solid understanding of the ESG landscape.
- A proactive, detail orientated approach in managing and tracking data and reporting.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across all levels within and outside the organization.
- Outstanding time management and organizational capabilities to coordinate multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
- A team-player; willing to step in and lend a hand as needed and identify the opportunities to do so.
- Strong systems skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
