The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated researcher to join our team and assist in conducting a comprehensive literature review, synthesis, and writing of review article(s) focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and public health microbiology. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of two rapidly evolving fields, while gaining valuable experience in academic research and scientific writing.
Key Responsibilities
- The selected candidate will examine collected literature using Covidence, a web-based literature management tool for reviews to identify the articles related to machine learning and public health microbiology and tag articles related to the public health microbiology functions.
- Collaborate closely with microbiologist(s) and principal investigator (PI) to finalize the articles relevant to the interest, prepare analysis and writing plan to produce a first preliminary draft version.
- Organize regular meetings with the research team to share progress and insights, discuss findings ad refine the research objectives and methodologies.
- Data Management: Organize and maintain a comprehensive database of research articles and data sources for reference and future use.
- Analyze and synthesize research findings from various sources to identify key trends, data types, emerging technologies, and gaps in the existing literature.
- Prepare high-quality review articles or reports that summarize the state of the art in artificial intelligence and its impact on public health microbiology. Ensure that the articles adhere to the highest standards of scientific writing and clarity.
- Deadline Adherence: Meet project deadlines and milestones in a timely manner while maintaining the quality and accuracy of the work.
Qualifications
- Ph.D., degree in a relevant field (e.g., microbiology, public health, health informatics, computer science, or a related discipline)
- Training or work experience with artificial intelligence or machine learning concepts and their applications in biology, microbiology or public health is a plus.
- Strong research skills with the ability to conduct systematic literature reviews and synthesize complex information. Experience in systematic reviews would be an asset.
- Excellent scientific and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear and concise scientific articles.
- Proficiency in using reference management software and academic databases.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong time management and project management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office) is preferred.
- Possibility of renewal contingent upon funding.
