Job Title: (Junior/Apprentice) Ironworker

Job Summary:
As a Iron Worker, the ideal candidate will understand the basics of a construction site, with a strong awareness for Health & Safety. You will be completing tasks that are set by your site supervisor. Everyday could be something new, making this role ideal for someone who likes versatility in their work.
For this role we require a minimum of 6 months experience and basic proficiency with entry level power tools (drills, saws etc.) You will need to supply basic hand tools and (CSA approved) steel toed safety boots. We supply the PPE that you need to get started (hard hat, hi-vis vest.)
Key Responsibilities:
Keeping the construction site safe, clean and tidy
Read blueprints and specifications to lay out work
Unload and position steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed
Put up and install scaffolding, hoisting equipment and rigging
Align and weld or bolt steel units in place
Assemble and set up prefabricated metal structures
Take down structures and equipment when needed
Handling and transporting materials around the site
Use of hand tools and basic power tools
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs (23kg)
- Blueprint reading
- Proficiency at Mathematics
- Welding experience (preferred)
- 6 months experience within an on-site construction position
- Advanced proficiency with English (reading, writing and speaking)
- Able to follow strict health and safety guidelines
- Must be legally permitted to work within Canada
Work Conditions:
This role may require you to work in all weather conditions, inside and outside. Locations of work may vary within the radius of your chosen location: Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria (BC) or Kelowna (BC). Sourcing your own means of transportation to and from your working location will be required (the majority of our work-force use public transit with no issues!)
We schedule our workers on a 40 hour per week basis (Monday-Friday), with pay days falling bi-weekly on a Friday. Shift times may vary, however our usual shift is 7:30am-3:30pm (8 hours). Overtime may be required on occasion and will be paid within the provincial employee pay legislation guidelines.
