Graham Packaging Canada Limited is looking for a
Production Support – QC Inspector based in
Mississauga, ON.
The QC Inspectors are responsible for examining plastic parts and finished products according to specifications and in-house processes/procedures. This position also acts as technical consultant to the Production Team
Job Responsibilities
Job Functions/Tasks:
- Conduct quality control programs, operating procedures and control strategies to ensure consistency and adherence to standards for raw materials, products and waste products
- Inspect manufactured plastic products for defects and conformance to specifications and quality standards, visually or using instruments
- Conduct sample and data collection for process analysis (capability studies)
- Take samples of products during or after processing operation for routine analysis or for subsequent laboratory analysis according to size, thickness, composition or other classification standards
- Test product for strength, density, durability and conformity to specification
- Advise supervisor or process and machine operators of problems and product deficiencies
- Complete and maintain clear, accurate, and timely inspection records and test reports
- Approve plastic products or affix seals / tags to mark and reroute defective products for rework or scrap
- Upon direction from the QC Supervisor, initiate corrective/preventive and continuous improvement opportunities through defined/document channels, and actively participate in developing, implementing, and verifying corrective/improvement actions.
- Perform corrective action investigations assigned by QC Supervisor.
- Perform inspection tests to ensure parts are produced to meet or exceed specifications.
- May assist production personnel in gauging production specifications.
- Report discrepancies in parts, processes, or operator training to appropriate personnel.
- Assist in training production personnel in the correct inspection methods and techniques.
- Fulfill all duties assigned by the QC Supervisor.
Job Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Must have secondary schooling and a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years related work experience. The completion of a two- or three-year college program or equivalent in industrial engineering technology, plastics technology, manufacturing technology or in a related discipline is preferred.
- Superior problem solving and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Has strong interpersonal skills and maintains constructive working relationships.
- Must have the ability to work independently within a defined/documented schedule.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office products.
- Must be proficient with SPC software.
