The Position
Our Zund Digital cutting machines (we have a bunch of them) are part of what gives us our “custom edge”. These sophisticated machines allow us to cut stickers of various sizes, shapes and numbers from large sheets as they zip under the lasers at high volumes. Zund Operators primary responsibilities are optimizing the volume and quality of the final products produced and doing regular maintenance of these state-of the art large format cutting machines
What you’ll do:
- Assist with planning cut load for several Zund machines on a daily basis
- Maintain a high volume, high quality workflow that meets customer demand
- Troubleshoot issues independently or seek help as needed to minimize downtime
- Brainstorm strategies to improve quality, reduce issues, decrease cost per page
- Perform ongoing and as needed maintenance on the Zund machines
- Learn from expert technicians to reduce additional outsourced repair costs
- Encourage safe and productive work behavior through example and communication
- Complete special projects as assigned by the Production Manager or Team Lead
- Communicate openly with management about concerns regarding processes, equipment, software and/or employee issues and inventory needs
What we’re looking for:
- Education or some practical experience in the Graphic Arts or Printing field
- Strong mathematical skills and technical orientation
- Good understanding of workflows and process organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and active listening skills
- Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for an 8-10 hour shift
- High proficiency in Windows OS, G-suite and Microsoft office. Specifically: Google Sheets, Excel, Google Docs, Word, and Gmail
- Knowledge of any print Digital Front End software eg. Zund Cut Center, Onyx, Roland VersaWorks, EFI Fiery, Xeikon X-800, etc
