Personal Support Workers (PSWs) provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness.
- The role will include:
- Assisting home care clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Providing mobility support and assisting with transfers.
- Helping with meal preparation and feeding, if needed.
- Monitoring and recording vital signs and health status.
- Providing emotional support and companionship to residents.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents at all times.
- Assisting with medication reminders under supervision.
- Reporting any changes in residents' health or behaviour to healthcare professionals
- Act upon delegated tasks as required within your scope of practice
- This role will be direct at the patients home location
- Have one of the following qualifications:
- Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
- RN/RPN or Paramedic with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
- Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician with clearance to work as a PSW from the Ontario Personal Support Workers Association (OPSWA)
- Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car preferred. The position requires daily travel of more than 1 hour.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
- Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
- Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
- Clear Vulnerable sector check is required upon hire
- Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to use phone applications
- Experience with dementia care
- Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months to a year
- Submission of proof of two COVID vaccinations preferred
- TB test completed within 6 months to a year
- Immunization record
- Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
- Able to speak Italian
- Available 3 days a week, 4 hours per shift
