Area Of Responsibility
Reporting to the Parks Asset Management Coordinator, including support from Parks Asset Technician and Parks Asset Clerk. Working within the Parks Asset Management section, this role will assist in conducting needs and condition surveys on the City’s infrastructure including walkways, shade structures, ID signs, and other assigned assets. Training and guidance will be provided to assist in accomplishing your primary responsibilities.
- Utilizing Apple iPad Air with ArcGIS (or comparable) software, conduct maintenance needs and condition surveys on City infrastructure.
- Primary role will consist of walkways, shade structure, and various park asset needs and condition surveys through traversing the City of Brampton’s recreational trail network. This duty will aid in the determination of deficient sections of walkway and identify assets that may require maintenance attention.
- Gather field survey information to import into CityWorks or for other staff to produce infrastructure repair lists.
- Report all concerns/issues to immediate supervisor for follow up.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Completion of High School (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a full time Civil Engineering Program or equivalent
Other Skills And Assets
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License, the use of your own vehicle may be required.
- Access to Personal Cellular Phone as this job requires the use of your own phone.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and ability to walk/stand for long periods of time.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory Health and Safety Training facilitated by the City of Brampton upon commencement of the work term.
- This is field inspection position that requires travel throughout the City of Brampton.
- Completion of the Ontario Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps. https://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/hs/training/index.php
- Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.
- Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
