This is a dual role since Manufacturing and Quality are interrelated. Quality is the main responsibility but will need to work as a Manufacturing Engineer back-up/support from time to time.
Role & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality
- A Quality Engineer will be responsible for the daily overview of production and new product introduction activities.
- The Quality Engineer will interface with customers, auditors, on quality issues.
- Quality Engineer will be responsible the final product to has been built with compliance to standards and meets customer expectations. A Quality Engineer is thorough and observant with an eye for detail.
- Drive the organization to be quality conscious and continuous improvement organization.
- Provide reliable data on yield, RMA, management review that will be used to improve quality performance.
- Lead the organization towards ISO standards and/or other regulatory requirements.
Manufacturing Engineer
- Evaluate new processes, equipment and technologies for suitability, application and implementation
- Evaluate new, under development, and existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
- Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals, efficiency targets, and performance goals.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion on new and existing products and processes.
- Establish an effective and efficient work sequence.
- Review manufacturing process documents for optimized process flow
- Support New Product Introduction by reviewing the assembly process and tooling requirement.
- Utilize quality tools and disciplines in response to customer quality concerns and internal quality improvement plans. Lead problem solving teams for internal and external quality issues.
- Interface with customers on critical issues or as needed.
- Additional responsibilities to include:
- Generating reports, improving Quality performance, and customer satisfaction through process improvement techniques such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, Lean manufacturing etc.
- Developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
- Develop work instructions for inspection/testing for QC personnel Design and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy
- Analyze and verify effectiveness of process controls. Review and update Quality SOP and check list.
- Lead, coach and follow-up on problem solving activities and development of corrective actions.
- Perform SCAR and recommends corrective action for customer quality concerns and complaints. Support RMA/MRB material disposition.
- Establishes statistical confidence / determining levels of confidence. Develop inspection check fixtures.
- Conduct internal/external audit and supplier audits. Manage particle count for cleaning room.
- Maintain and Improve suppler metrics and targets
- Quality Control (QC) procedures and quality tools such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Able to drive effective meetings and a team through problem resolution and have solid processes and solutions in place
- On hands type of person, mechanical engineering, special process engineering.
- Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met
- Establish quality data and drive the organization to improve current performance.
- Lead implementation of ISO 9001/14000 across the organization.
- Drive each section to improve quality performance
- Ensure implementation of ECOs/PCNs in the production line and/or any regulatory requirements.
- Ensure any incoming chemical has proper WHMIS documentations
- Work with different section leaders and Project Managers to represent quality for the customer.
- Conducts training to existing and/or new employees regarding ISO, procedures, 5S, etc.
- Effectively implement industry enhancement on production processes
- Do cycle time analysis, line balancing, and line efficiency improvement. Provide target per station based on time study.
- Facility relay-out based on Lean concepts.
- Support production in improving output.
- Any additional tasks assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in Quality
- Conscientious and responsible
- A keen eye for detail and a result driven approach
- Outstanding communication skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge in PFMEA, PDCA cycle, 5Whys, 8D reports, and other Quality tools.
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP, and/or MES systems
- Minimum supervision and can-do attitude
- Understand manufacturing processes
- In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
- Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
- BSc/ Ba in business administration, engineering, or relevant field
- Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.)
- Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma experience
Targets/KPIs:
- Major findings in ISO and/or customer audit = 0
- Overall FPY target: > 95% per customer. SMT = 98%, TH=98%, Assembly= 99%
- RMA/Customer complaint: 1< per quarter
- CAR/NCR Response: initial response to customer: within 3 business days; Completion of report: 10 business days
- ESD, Process, 5S Audit/report: per month
- Compliance with updated quality records in the system: on time.
- Quality report: per week and monthly trend.
- Other assigned target in the future
