We are seeking for a Laboratory Assistant / Junior Metallurgist in Richmond, BC.
Objectives
- Hire an individual to assist with R&D laboratory tasks, test work, and data collection
- Accelerate accumulation of project test results
- Allow lead metallurgist to focus on project and process development + management, results analysis and presentation, matrix development, metallurgical issues problem solving, new equipment acquisition, etc.
- Foster new talent; potentially acquire long-term department hire to collaborate with
- Gain personnel management experience
Job Responsibilities
- Powders:
- Tap density data collection
- Compressed density data collection
- Laboratory:
- Coupon metallography
- Hardness and imaging
- NCR sample preparation
- (future) Abrasion resistance data collection
- Lab supplies inventory
- Sample organization/library
- R&D:
- (future) Drill rig testing and operation
- Test bit supervision
- Powder mixing and sieving back-up
Qualifications
- Education level:
- If not an engineering graduate, should have laboratory experience
- Laboratory experience preferred.
- Materials science background preferred.
- Comprehensible English reading, writing, and speaking.
- Physically capable of lifting 25kg, standing for extended periods.
- Analytical mindset and detail-oriented.
- Works effectively with minimal supervision and with others.
- Embraces hands-on learning and work.
