Overview:
OSSCO’s Life Skills Education Associate is the face of OSSCO’s life-skills educational activities. They deliver and support seniors-centric educational programming with compassion and dignity in a safe barrier-free environment. As part of the OSSCO team, they participate in growing and developing educational programs and initiatives. They empower people 55+ to remain independent, be financially secure and live safely in community through knowledge. This position reports to the Team Lead, Communications & Educational Programs.
Position Summary:
o Resource to help learners understand lessons and engage in life-skills programming.
o Engage learners before each learning activity for socialization and information gathering.
o Provide observations on learner behaviours or through survey responses to Team Lead for continuous improvement or program modifications.
o Participate in sourcing, implementing and finalizing educational programs, including finding and securing program instructors, workshop speakers and/or program sponsors.
o Provide insight into new or existing lesson plans/content to reflect what older people need to function independently and live safely in community.
o Share information and/or create campaigns about upcoming programs and educational activities using a variety of technology and activities to attract Ontarians 55+ to register and attend learning activities.
o Gather and track information to guide future educational activities and programs.
o Conduct community outreach on educational activities and programs through past partner locations, current OSSCO members and a data base of more than 4,000 individuals/ organizations who follow OSSCO’s education activities.
o Monitor and maintain OSSCO’s social media platforms and its education content on Eventbrite, Facebook to increase awareness of learning opportunities by 55+.
o Performs other duties as assigned i.e. administrative tasks, OSSCO Signature events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of education in Human Services, Social Activation, ECE or similar studies
- Experienced in education in seniors’ community; and, life skills learning preferred
- Experience working with people 55+ and seniors’ community
- Strong verbal/written communication, organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience using social media for educational purposes and engagement
- Must be comfortable working independently and part of a team
TECHNOLOGIES: Competency using Microsoft Office i.e. word, excel, PowerPoint; Zoom, Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress,/Elementor (OSSCO website), Webmail (remote), Eventbrite, social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, Survey Monkey
SALARY RANGE: $ 36,127 to $ 45,500. STATUS: Full time (32 hours) with annual contract
