What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a Junior Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with all relevant codes, standards, and specifications. This role involves reviewing project plans and blueprints, conducting on-site inspections, monitoring construction activities, and documenting findings to ensure quality and safety. The Junior Inspector works closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address any discrepancies, enforce compliance, and maintain project timelines.
What You'll Do:
- Performs inspection of construction activities, operations, and work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, specifications, and environmental legislation.
- Conducts site surveys, confirms the scope of work, obtains relevant information, equipment, and materials, and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed.
- Compiles field and test data into reports for review by the Contract Administrator and/or the Manager.
- Liaises/coordinates with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure the tasks are completed in accordance with the terms of reference, specifications, or agreement.
- Attends site meetings, as required.
- Obtains video/photographic records, as required.
- Records, reviews, and addresses contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor.
- Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
What You'll Need:
- Post Secondary degree or diploma/degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician
- Ability to meet deadlines independently and under pressure.
- Familiar with field construction activities.
- An associate member with OACETT for Road Construction Junior Inspector (RCSI) designation.
- Able to work on weekends and nights, as required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office
- A valid Ontario driver's license (G License)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD ( a plus )
- ACI field testing certificate ( a plus )
- Ability to independently resolve straightforward problems.
- Able to work collaboratively and participate in collaborative efforts. Must be able and willing to seek out mentorship for growth and development.
- Able to handle multiple priorities without losing focus.
