Position Overview
Reporting to the Industrial Engineering Manager, The Industrial Engineering Technologist provides its full support to the Production team and is responsible for the development, improvement, implementation, and evaluation of production processes. The role is also responsible for the input, analysis and maintenance of the Engineering and Production data.
What You’ll Do
- Establish labor costs and standards through methods and data analysis and time studies; and resolve questions relating to job utilization and performance.
- Present new labor standards to operators and defend findings when a grievance is filed by the Union.
- Recommend methods for improving operator efficiency through waste reduction.
- Provide IE package to Production containing the Style operations breakdown, operations sequence, machine & headcount requirement, line balancing analysis and layout proposal.
- Determine section capacity and line target output based on Standard Allowed Minutes (SAM)
- Monitor line efficiencies and work with the Production Team to hit Production KPIs.
- Be fully engaged on the status of the production floor.
- Work on reducing make-up through different manufacturing initiatives to align with the Production KPIs
- Maintain Engineering files and data and ensure its reliability and accuracy.
- Take part in the style changeover through QCO set-up and reports monitoring.
- Demonstrate leadership by mentoring production staff and promote knowledge transfer between teams.
- Assist in training production supervisors on the IE-related topics and train operators on Leadtec terminal usage during their on-boarding stage.
- Participate in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Come up with ideas for waste reduction and cost savings.
- Take part in the Manufacturing Projects Structure as team member and support the Project Lead towards the completion of the project.
- Collaborate with IE Technologists from other plants to drive standardization across all In-house plants.
- Present ideas that promote standardization and process improvements.
- Act as backup in the absence of the Leadtec Coordinator.
- Follow any instructions provided by Industrial Engineering Manager.
Let's Talk About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering.
- At least 1 year’s experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Apparel manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in a union environment is an asset.
- Hands-on experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Excellent communication skills with a “Can do” attitude.
- Exceptional leadership skills, problem problem-solving abilities.
- Strong capabilities in planning, organizing and process control.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, operate proactively, work as a team and handle challenges.
- Excellent common sense, decision-making abilities, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to evaluate options and generate solutions.
- Confident, articulate, organized, detail-oriented, goal-oriented, self-motivated and hard-working.
- Must be familiar with computers and business software such as MS Office, Excel, CAD, and ERP software.
