Role: Property Management Accountant
Location: Scarborough, ON
Compensation Package: $70,000 - $75,000 + 3 weeks’ vacation + benefits + discretionary bonus
Your new role:
A confidential organization, well-regarded in the construction industry for its dependable service and high standards, is seeking a Property Management Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. In your new role, you will assist the Assistant Controller with the weekly and monthly processing of Accounts Receivable billing and reporting on delinquent accounts to the Property Manager, as well as Accounts Payable processing. You will be responsible for monthly tenant rent billing and maintaining accurate tenant billing schedules. Additionally, you will maintain the accuracy of tenant records to ensure correct rental billings each month and uphold accounting/invoicing procedures, including processing supplier invoices, preparing monthly tenant service invoices, and annual TMI invoices/credits.
Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and tracking of the annual budget (TMI forecast versus actual) and obtaining necessary supporting documents and reports. You will provide administrative support to the office/department by distributing mail, memos, letters, faxes, and forms, attending to email inquiries, and distributing them to the right parties. You will also support the Property Manager, maintain and update tenant lists/files and other files (TMI binders) as necessary, prepare correspondence such as tenant letters, and perform any other tasks as necessary.
What you will need to succeed:
To succeed in this role, you will need proficiency in accounting skills and knowledge, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience with TMI (Taxes, Maintenance, Insurance). Relevant experience in a commercial property management accounting role (at least 2 years) is required. You should be proficient in Word & Excel, have proven organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. Being detail-oriented with a proven ability to simultaneously address competing priorities is essential. You should also have the ability to resolve problems using facts and sound reasoning, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
