Description
As an integral part of the team, the Financial Accountant is responsible for providing support and assisting with the full accounting cycle and ensuring the application of sound accounting principals and practices.
Responsibilities
- Month End
- Conduct reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, and performing analysis as they relate to receivables/cash clearing/long term assets and liabilities
- Ensure GAAP are being adhered to appropriately
- Responsible for all other intercompany billings, reconciliation, and adjustments to GL
- Preparation of monthly departmental expense analysis
- Perform daily routines and month end procedures
- Conduct credit card transactions including intercompany transfers, and other invoice payments, and review and approval of cheque payments
- Record and maintain fixed asset purchases and applicable depreciation and amortization schedules
Reporting
- Assist in preparation and analysis of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and management reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Generate reports from company system to populate the metrics in the financial reporting deck and provide value-added reports for management
- Build excel reports from pulled data as needed
- Assist and prepare daily cash flow analysis
- Assist in variance analysis to budget and forecast
Audit
- Respond to various queries and requests from external/internal auditors
- Support in compilation of annual and periodic budget information
- Assist in meeting Tax Compliance, prepare monthly HST/GST, provincial and various United States sales tax filings
Requirements
- Post secondary education with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, or a Diploma in Accounting
- Enrolled in a professional accounting Designation (CPA / CGA / CMA)
- US GAAP knowledge and financial statement disclosure is preferred
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and strong database skills
- Working knowledge of X3 and experience with Quickbooks
- Experience with multi-national companies is preferred
- Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, results driven, prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills
- Effective written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships
