Taiga Building Products – Burnaby, BC has an immediate opening for a Junior Accountant position at our head office. We are seeking for someone who is looking to transition from either an A/P or A/R role to junior-level accounting role. This is perfect for an individual who has completed an accounting diploma and looking to pursue CPA designation. Experience in manufacturing or distribution settings is preferred. The successful candidate will work closely with divisional managers and senior leadership to provide accurate financial reporting, analysis, and support for decision-making processes. This position offers opportunities for further growth and career advancement. The position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations for bank, prepaid expense, accrued liabilities to name a few.
- Ability to determine whether a transaction is a fixed asset or an operating expense and record it accordingly in the books.
- Provide coding guidance to A/P team for overhead invoices.
- Reviewing and analyzing summary reports and source data to ensure linkage between the ERP system and financial reporting system.
- Performing analytical reviews of branches and divisions monthly.
- Assisting various audit and tax reporting requirements.
- Creating detailed reports/process memos when investigation, validation and documentation of accounting transactions are performed.
- Coordinating with other areas/departments wherever overlap exists to streamline workflows by developing efficient procedures/communications.
- Making recommendations to streamline workflows by utilizing new technologies to automate tasks and reporting.
- Coordinating and completing special projects as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Accounting diploma or degree graduate, who is thinking of pursuing the CPA designation.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping roles.
- Experience in manufacturing and distribution industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Great Plains (GP), and BisTrack systems is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various teams, including senior leadership and divisional managers.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
