Position: Service HVAC/R Apprentice
Job Description:
- Service and maintenance of all types of commercial, multi-family residential and light industrial HVAC & R equipment.
- Reporting to the Service Manager, while working under the direct supervision of a Journeyperson, typical daily work consists of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Requirements:
- At a minimum, completion of Level 1 through an ITA recognized school. (Preferred).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract (required).
- Must be able to carry out basic and complex instructions provided by the Journeyman, often with little supervision.
- Ability to handle HVAC/R tools and equipment (hand tools, power tools, etc.) correctly and in a safe manner.
- Highly dependable/capable to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment where schedules may change from time to time to meet business needs.
- Effective time management skills, detail oriented, and can work well under pressure.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills with all team members.
- Excellent customer service with ability to deal with customers in stressful situations or with language barriers calmly and efficiently.
Work Commitment:
- At a minimum, must be available during the core business hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (with a half hour lunch), Monday through Friday. (40 to 45 hours a week, on average).
- Ability to attend occasional overtime call outs. (Required).
- Rotating weekend on-call shifts to satisfy our customers’ needs. (Required).
- You will be working mostly in the lower mainland, with occasional trips into the Fraser Valley and sea to sky corridor.
What We Offer: UA Local 516 Union Agreement – Permanent Position
- Hourly Rate - Probationary Period (first 3 months). $20.00-$25.00/hour, commensurate with experience (paid out bi-weekly).
- Hourly Rate - Permanent Position: UA Local 516 Agreement
