SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Apprentice to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside our skilled electricians, gaining hands-on experience while helping to maintain and improve the electrical systems that power our resort operations.
As an electrician, you are responsible for maintaining all Mt Seymour's current electrical systems including ski lifts, and the installation of new systems when required. This is a varied position and requires outdoor work during the winter months. This position also requires that you are available weekends and evenings during the winter operational months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You work with your supervisor and learn how to identify and prioritize all electrical maintenance requirements
You will assist with electrical maintenance and repairs on all Mt Seymour electrical systems including ski lifts
You will ensure that all manufacturer's guidelines and government regulations regarding electrical maintenance and repair are followed
Shipping and receiving of materials as required
Maintaining records regarding maintenance work performed, materials used, quality, and cost control.
You will ensure a high standard in all finished work.
You'll be responsible for thorough record keeping and the reporting of equipment status including but not limited to work performed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Completed Electrical Foundations course or are a current 1st - 3rd year apprentice
Must be able to be registered as an apprentice through Skilled Trades BC
Must be comfortable with working at high altitudes - 50-foot towers
MUST be available to work weekends and evenings as needed
Knowledge and use of basic hand tools and cordless power tools
Valid class 5 driver's license preferred
Experience working with passenger ropeways is an asset.
Knowledge and diagnostic skills on motor controls, PLCS, and AC/DC drives an asset
Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Electric Code
Knowledge of high-voltage circuitry and protection devices is an asset.
Valid WHMIS certificate
Valid Confined Space Entry Certificate an asset but not required.
Strong organizational and time management skills to provide timely and high-quality service to maximize guest and employee experiences.
Willing and able to work in all weather conditions while performing labor-intensive duties
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Full-time year-round position
Hourly wage-$26-$36/hour (based on experience and level of apprenticeship)
