Do you want provide privacy guidance to LCBO staff and corporate programs? Reporting to the Senior Manager, Privacy & Access, you will provide advice, training, and direction regarding the interpretation of Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) principles and requirements, and privacy best practices and industry standards, to ensure internal clients meet their legislated obligations related to the collection, use, retention, and disclosure of personal information and to support an exceptional customer experience.

About the Role
- Develop and communicate advice, guidance and training to LCBO staff and corporate programs regarding all activities that collect, or may collect, personal information to assist decision-makers and business owners in reaching goals while ensuring compliance with applicable privacy legislation, supporting an exceptional customer experience, and informed by privacy best practices.
- Identify and assess privacy risks and provide advisory and consultative support to risk owners to develop appropriate mitigation plans; conduct post-implementation analysis and reviews to ensure recommendations have been implemented.
- Conduct privacy risk assessments, investigations, and audits to confirm ongoing compliance.
- Monitor and conduct privacy research activities to identify and assess jurisdictional/private sector and industry best practices, risks and impacts related to program delivery, to inform and enhance the effectiveness of LCBO’s privacy policy, legal commitments, and program delivery.
- Support LCBO privacy program, including corporate policies, incident response protocols, its goals, and practices, and compliance with government legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Use subject matter expertise to help implement privacy protocols and programs applicable to the Freedom of Information & Privacy Office including responding to requests for personal information, privacy complaints, privacy breaches (i.e., unauthorized disclosure, use of or access to personal information) and law enforcement requests.
- Lead communication with the Information and Privacy Commissioner’s Office (IPC) related to privacy complaints and investigations; support the research and development of representations in response to requests for documentation from the IPC.
About You
- College diploma, undergraduate degree or graduate certificate in Privacy, Information Management, Library Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience.
- Self-initiating and takes a proactive approach towards projects; seek direction and advice but is also prepared to take ownership and progress tasks independently.
- Build credibility and relationships with partners.
- Excellent communication skills including strong writing skills and the ability to discuss complex privacy and adjacent issues and analysis.
- Self-driven, resourceful, and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions and recommendations in the face of ambiguity.
- Familiarity with retail sector and Broader Ontario Public Sector an asset.
