Available shifts:
- Between Monday - Friday: Between 7AM - 1 PM
- Saturday - Sunday: Open availability preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides homemaking and respite care
- Performs all personal care duties
- Assists in the preparation of daily meals and nutritional snacks
- Monitors client’s well-being and informs supervisor of any changes or incidents
- Strong sense of autonomy ad self-management
- Traveling to clients home daily to perform services for the agency client
- Performs other duties as required
EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate
- Physical ability to perform light cleaning and lifting (e.g. washing floors, dusting, laundry, and transferring clients) and knowledge of basic health and safety standards
- Knowledge of routine precautions required for cleanliness and disinfecting and for the control of the spread of communicable diseases (IPAC)
- Able to build relationships with clients using a gentle approach
- Crisis intervention and problem-solving skills are required to anticipate and deal with client issues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
- Strong sense of integrity & autonomy
- Immunization for tuberculosis, chickenpox, mumps and hepatitis B is strongly urged
- Current First AID & CPR Certification is required
- Crisis Prevention Intervention, and Food Handlers’ certificate is preferred
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police check completed within last 12 months is required
- Fluency in a second language such as Italian/Spanish/Russian is an asset
- This position requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and you must provide Lumacare with proof of vaccination prior to employment
