Your opportunity:
Under general Supervision, provides administrative services to patients, academic services, undergraduate clinics, graduate students and other administrative staff. This front-line position requires interaction with the public, greeting patients, facilitating patient flow, providing information to patients, answering both internal and external inquires, directing patients accordingly, updating patient records, scheduling and confirming patient appointments and maintaining accurate patient appointments. Accesses and enters data on the Clinic Management System in order to retrieve patient information and book appointments, etc. This position will be
primarily located in the Undergraduate Clinic.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling and assigning patients to student clinicians
- Confirming appointments
- Updating and maintaining database records
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Receiving and passing on messages to appropriate contacts
- Assisting faculty, dental students and technicians during treatment procedures
- Applying established standards when cleaning, sanitizing and/or sterilizing facilities
- Following rules and procedural processes related to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
Essential Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program, Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
and current member of the ODAA, including HARP and must also have current CPR.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in dental reception.
- Highly developed organizational and time management skills and excellent communication,interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in close association and cooperate with others
- Proven ability to execute front-line duties in a professional, courteous and timely manner
- A commitment to delivering the highest level of customer service
- Strong computer skills with experience in using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel),scheduling software, email, and the internet
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion, good judgement, and initiative
- Ability to act with sensitivity and empathy when responding to diverse groups ofindividuals
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and accurately convey information
- Ability to maintain composure and to exercise attention to detail while working with multiinterruptions
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task; demonstrated punctuality, work dependability
Assets (Nonessential):
- Familiarity with Axium
- Dental Office Administrative Certificate
- Familiarity with processing payments with Moneris
- Completed reprocessing modules with Public Health Ontario (PHO)

USW Pay Band 06 - $55,728. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $71,265. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
